Kratie is a quiet small province located in the northeast of the country and on the east bank of the Mekong River, with a distance of 315 kilometers away from Phnom Penh.
The province is famous for the critically endangered Irrawaddy Dolphins, which there are only few left in the world. About 60 dolphins have been estimated to be residing in the stretch of the Mekong River between Kampi Village, the best place to see the dolphins, and the Lao border. It can be assumed that most visitors to the province, especially the foreign ones, mainly come for a glimpse of such dolphins.
Besides watching dolphins, tourists may also visit other tourist attractions in the province, which feature both scenic and cultural ones.
